Guanacaste National Park

guanacaste-national-parkGuanacaste National Park is located West of the Inter-American Highway, across from Santa Rosa National Park.

It covers several eco systems: There are dry forests in the lowlands and virgin mountainous or cloud forests at higher elevations. Also there are two volcanoes, Orosi (4,879 ft/ 1,487 m) and Cacao (5,443 ft/ 1,659 m) located in the park.
The various trails make the park ideal for hiking.

The main entrance to the park, Quebrada Grande, can be accessed from the Inter-American Highway via Porterillos, where a 10km (6 miles) dirt road heads to the park.
