Ocean Tour to Cano Island
Isla del Caño, a small island in the Bahia de Corcovado (Corcovado Bay), is well worth the three hour boat ride that is required when leaving from the Marino Ballena National Park.
The featured reef offers good visibility for snorkelling and deep sea diving. Alongside the myriad of fish you may spot, on your way you may also see sea turtles, bottle nose dolphins, and humpback whales.
The island is part of a protected national park, with a permanent ranger station on the island. Until recently one could walk the trails. Many of the boat tours stop on the island for lunch and a bathroom break and for a chance to relax on the beach.
A highlight of being out on the ocean, especially early morning, is the topography from afar, with the clouds rolling over the mountain tops. The mountain ranges, forever etched in memories of those who set their sights on them, are breathtakingly beautiful as they showcase the green lush forests and various hillsides. The sight conjures up images of what may have been similar landscapes from times past long ago. After all, “Jurassic Park” was filmed in Costa Rica!
